Tang Dingde is a film projectionist in Zhuting village of Yichun city of Jiangxi province. In 1984, Tang acquired his projectionist certificate and began his career as a film projectionist. At that time, to watch movies was one of the most popular forms of entertainment in rural areas, and Tang was appointed to screen films benefiting local villagers. As transportation conditions were tough and the roads were remote in townships and rural areas, Tang often took lots of time to get to the village to screen the films despite difficulties. Over the past four decades, Tang has organized tens of thousands of films for villagers and his son Tang Xiaowei also inherited the career as a film projectionist. He hopes that more youths will join in the career of film projectionist to bring the art of film to more villagers.
