On Saturday, part of the Tianjin Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center began showcasing a diverse array of over 100 roasted nut products from Wangkou town, Jinghai district, Tianjin.



These products span 23 categories, featuring popular choices such as almonds, pistachios, and sunflower seeds.

The history of the roasted nuts industry in Wangkou dates back over 600 years to the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).

The 2024 Hainan Seven Fairies Hot Spring Water Fun Festival kicked off in Baoting Li and Miao autonomous county on Friday, running throughout the week until Sunday. The festival aims to showcase the unique cultural charm of the Li and Miao ethnic groups in the county, offering visitors a diverse cultural experience.

Now in its 21st edition, the festival traces its roots back to the year 2000, drawing inspiration from ancient Li ethnic rituals. Legend has it that on Chinese Valentine's Day, or Qixi Festival, the seventh day of the seventh month in the Chinese lunar calendar, the Seventh Fairy, the youngest daughter of the emperor in heaven, and her husband, Dong Yong, met at the Magpie Bridge. In commemoration of their love, the Li people gather at the hot springs for dancing, singing, and offerings of sacrifices in prayer for favorable weather.

Fueled by a boom in Chinese travelers visiting Japan this summer, extra direct flights have been launched between the two countries — including to niche destinations — with more flights expected to be added to satisfy the growing demand, industry players said.

The rush to visit Japan has been fueled by Chinese students taking their summer vacations, and the favorable exchange rate with the Japanese yen, making hotels, meals and attractions more affordable.

The resurgence of Japan as a travel destination for Chinese travelers also follows the easing of COVID-19 restrictions.

In the first half of this year, a record 17.78 million international travelers visited Japan. During the same period in 2019, before the pandemic, the number was 16.63 million, according to the Japan National Tourism Organization.

The main sources of international visitors were South Korea, China and the United States, the organization said.
