Daimler AG is furthering its partnership with China's internet giant Baidu Inc in automated driving and connected vehicles, consolidating their cooperation in aspects that are believed to be the future of the automotive industry.
Niu Bentong, 62, works at a martyrs cemetery in Longzhou County, South China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, July 30, 2018. Niu participated in the China-Vietnam war and witnessed the death of many of his comrades-in-arms in front of him. In 1980, Niu chose to work in the cemetery, where 1,902 martyrs lie, and he continued to work there for 37 years until his retirement this year. Atlanta Hawks star of the National Basketball Association Jeremy Lin shared his knowledge and experience with young Chinese players who qualified for the inaugural Jr. NBA World Championship next month.
As a mentor of the Jr. NBA's Chinese team, Lin attended the opening ceremony of the training camp in Beijing and spoke with the players.
On being asked how to qualify and how to face adversity, he said "staying confident" is the key, and a confident player will get rid of distractions and focus on training. Even if the player doesn't play well, he will be able to adjust and respond positively, he added.

HOHHOT -- Construction was finished Tuesday on the first high-speed railway in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, according to the builder.
With a designed speed of 250 km per hour, the 287-km-long railway passes the regional capital of Hohhot, the region's Ulanqab city, and Zhangjiakou city in neighboring Hebei province, according to Hohhot Rail of China Railway.

Meteorologists have renewed a yellow alert for high temperatures, the second lowest of a four-tier warning system, for the 18th consecutive day on Tuesday as a lingering heat wave continued to scorch many parts of the country.
Some areas in Liaoning, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Anhui and Fujian provinces, the Inner Mongolia autonomous region and Chongqing municipality were expected to experience temperatures of 37 C to 39 C on Tuesday, with some regions reaching 40 C, according to the National Meteorological Center
