Luding Bridge in SW China's Sichuan

Luding Bridge, constructed in 1705 in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), was an important place in the Long March of the Red Army. This strategic iron-chain bridge across Daduhe River is where the Chinese Red Army won a fierce battle during the Long March.

With the Rio Olympic Games at the peak of excitement, Feng Shiping, a paper-cut craftswoman from Handan City in north China's Hebei Province, has recently made a series of lovely works for the great occasion. Born in a farmer's family in 1963, Feng has been keen on paper-cutting since childhood and has devoted herself to the art with great concentration. The paper-cuts that come from her hands are always lifelike and attractive. Her latest works, with the theme of the Rio Olympics, include the figures of athletes in the events of table tennis, gymnastics, fencing, cycling, swimming, boxing and football. They are all different in posture and shape, and the cute Olympic mascot Vinicius has also been included.
