Screen doors installed in Beijing subway line 2

The Beijing subway line 2 installed its first platform screen doors at Andingmen station. The 1.5 meter high screen doors were installed during the non-operational hours. It is expected that all stations in Line 1 and Line 2 will be installed with screen doors by the end of 2017.

There is a great thread at Skyscraper City forum(SSC) about the NYC subway. The issue you mentioned has been discussed.

It'd be a weird feeling to have a bus over drivers in traffic, but maybe it's just getting used to it. Nevertheless, it's welcomed innovation and might just work. Even if it turns out to be impractical, it's still noteworthy for the out of the box thinking.

I was thinking is that bus be able to travel over a tall SUV or full size truck?o_O Is the height adjustable?

First of all, the lane that it travel doesn't allow high vehicle (no truck, no bus). Secondly I think its ground clearance is a bit lower than animation video. With a net ground clearance of 2.2 meter, some SUV easily pass that height.

The current setup is a technology demonstrator, so if the concept is practical, then we'll likely see design changes to adopt for actual city usage that includes methods to heal with larger cars and trucks. Even if it turns out to be unworkable, the try is noteworthy for its innovative out-of-the-box thinking. No copycat with this one.
