Editor's note: Yunyang County is located in the Three Gorges Reservoir area in Chongqing. More than 400,000 of the county's 1.37 million citizens work in cities year-round, leaving 90 percent of the county's children behind at home to be cared for by grandparents or other relatives. The lack of parental attention has produced various problems and even threatens the children's psychological health and personal safety. The local government recently sent officials to conduct an in-depth survey of the situation in order to see what can be done to help. At the same time, a comprehensive nationwide survey of left-behind children will be carried out this year by the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Public Security.

Tang Empire on exhibit in Australia for first time

The exhibit shows the high artistic achievements and rich history of this golden age of China - Tang Empire. The capital city of Tang was Chang’an (now Xi'an), which was situated at the start of the famous Silk Road trade route. This cosmopolitan metropolis was renowned as a city of great wealth, cultural diversity and religious devotion.

The exhibition features 135 rare gold, silver, glass and ceramics artifacts, sculptures and mural paintings from the Tang Empire (618-907). Many of them are national treasures of China and some objects have never before been exhibited outside China. These archaeological findings are drawn from 11 museums and cultural institutions in Shaanxi Province, China.

China's richest village Huaxi a tribute to knock-offs

Huaxi Village, China’s richest village and located in the eastern Jiangsu Province, is home to many astonishing replicas of the world’s most iconic landmarks, such as the Arc de Triomphe, the Sydney Opera House, the US Capital Hill and China’s Great Wall. These buildings were originally built around 1995 in the former Huaming Village, now incorporated into the Huaxi Village, to let locals see the world without travelling. Now these replicas have attracted many tourists to visit the village and new knock-offs, such as Beijing’s Palace Museum, have been added. (Photo/CFP)
