BEIJING, Jan. 25, 2016 (Xinhua) -- Lanterns are hung in a street in Shaoxing City, east China's Zhejiang Province, May 27, 2012. Lanterns in China have a long history and they have become synonymous with Chinese culture. Even today, they are still made and enjoyed by the Chinese worldwide. They were used as a means of artistic expression, in terms of functionality, design and decoration. Chinese streets in both cities and towns are decorated with red lanterns during festivals, especially Chinese Lunar New Year, Mid-Autumn Festival and Lantern Festival.(Xinhua/Wang Song)

North East China destroys 80,000 hunting devices
Apparatus used to catch birds and other wild animals are set on fire during a campaign in Northeast China’s Jilin Province, Jan. 25, 2016. Several cities in the province destroyed more 80,000 hunting devices including traps, rings and nets on the same day. The equipment was confiscated during a campaign that started in October last year.

Silk Road city Dunhuang hit by snow
