Locals celebrate "Chili Festival" in China's Guangxi
Some pictures of Mahai Village of Longji Township in Guilin, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Aug. 29, 2015. The village has a tradition to hold a "Chili Festival" every year, an event to promote its local product "Longji Chilies".

China flags hung on buildings in old Beijing
National flags have been hung on buildings in downtown Beijing from Sept 1 to 5 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the victory of war of resistance against Japanese aggression and the end of World War II.

These pictures show the older part of Beijing that you don't see much nowadays.

very true.. slowly but surely these older neighborhoods are being ..removed.

As soon as Xinhua gets over it's "parade fever" I'll post more photos...

Ahem.. I don't want to disillusion anyone but I doubt if these young women that took part in the parade a couple of days ago are actually serving in the REAL PLA. Why do I state that? here's why..

....those "troops" you see marching in the parade MAY be special militias formed only to train for this single event. This is what China did in 2009. That training took 9 months to complete. After the parade in 2009 the Special militias were disbanded.If I could find the old link to this story about the militias I'd post it...

edit 10 minutes later...Ah Ha!! I found this link about Chinese female parade militias..

Whether these ladies actually serving in the real PLA or not is not important at all. All we want to see is NOW they are wearing military uniforms and look good. At least that's all I'm asking for and I like what I see.:D

After see all the pretty ladies that Ahojunk and Popeye post, I think I need to see a nurse. Those heart palpitations you know……..As the “rolling Stones” say in one of their songs “what a drag it is getting old”
