Geographer, Thanks for commenting on that photo. I found it without a caption in another forum. I was leary to post that photo. If I do ever see a caption for it I shall post it.

The photos appears to be some policemen being admonished by rioters. Do any other members know what is really going on?

What's going on here? Did the rioters capture these policemen?

The CCP needs to get a grip on the corruption and abuse of power. It's more than a question of moral discipline that internal anti-corruption education campaigns are going to solve. It's a structural problem. There needs to be more checks and balances of local officials through the courts, ombudsmen, and anti-corruption task forces for each province. More citizen input into local police chiefs and government officials would go a long way. Citizen complaints should also be a weighing factor in promotions. Corruption was the undoing of the KMT and the government of South Vietnam. The communists knew the hatred of corrupt officials and capitalized on it.

I agree. But the problem is that the chinese communist regime doesnt have any ability to reform. Its too heavy for it. Year after year, they just dont demonstrate any willingness to keep local officals/corruption in check.

Migrant workers smoke as they rest on a footpath near a construction site in the financial district of Beijing June 15, 2011. China's millions of rural workers will become a serious threat to stability unless they are better treated in their new urban homes, a top Chinese state think-tank warned in a report published in the wake of fresh rioting in one factory city in the south. The report from the State Council Development Research Center, published on Tuesday, found that while the overwhelming majority of migrant workers and business owners from villages see their future in cities and towns, they are often treated as unwelcome "interlopers" and have few rights.

In the picture, they look like city management crew. Really notorious in China for their heavy handed action. Hong Kong is also following their footstep.

I do agree that China need an anti-corruption task force like Hong Kong ICAC.
