Re: Chinese Daily Photos, Videos & News of 2012!!!

lets see how the Crack Chinese Olympics team does in London, probably will scoop top for Golds all the way like in Beijing

Maybe, but I think it will be close this time as regarding to total gold medal counts between the US and China. I can't wait to see Liu Xiang and the rest of the top 110 meter hurdler competition, Michael Phelps, and of course how fast and insane can MR. Usane Bolt could run. I think he can break the 9.6 sec. barrier.:)

Yeah. This time there wont be home court advantage when it comes to 50/50 calls in the subjective sports.

For the Beijing Olympics they spent big money on the rowing and cycling with very little to show for it, but at least there was a period where the Chinese women were enjoying immense success in the "Worlds Championship."It was even suggested that they would be stronger in the London Olympics , but since Beijing they appear to have faded away

China is way under-represented in track and field: Just this event alone contributed quite a lot of medals to the total medal count of the U.S and a few other countries at the top of the medal tally. :D

Well track and field was the original events of the ancient Greek Olympics. The US are strong in track and field events because they have a strong program from high school through the collegiate level to build on for the national team. Russia meanwhile dominate in the field events of track.

I think youre getting yourself confused. Yes the womens rowing kicked butt in most of the world meets and championships in 2007 and 2008

heres an example on how the world viewed Chinese Women rowing just before the Olympics

China unstoppable at Lucerne Rowing World Cup

"Is China the new rowing powerhouse on the block? At the conclusion of the second Rowing World Cup for the season China hit the top of the points table with a resounding thud..............The wins for China were spread nicely between women and men, sweep and sculling, heavy and lightweight..................China’s total of 63 points was well above Australia in second (43 points) and the United States in third (37 points). These top three results are in stark contrast to results over the last 11 years that the Rowing World Cup has been running. For the majority of these years Germany has ruled the roost with Great Britain always near the top.

Heres another article praising the Cthe Chinese rowers

THere was a serious belief that they could pick up 6 medals (hopefully gold) in rowing at the Beijing Olympics but they only managed 1 silver and one gold.

.

My point is that I m worried that the Chinese have lost interest in rowing because they have not performed as well going into the 2012 Olympics as they have done in the yrs leading up to the Beijing Olympics. Its a pity if they have because there's a lot of medals to be won in the rowing and kayaking events , cycling included. I reckon if it can pick up 12 medals half at least gold, no one is going to knock it off the top of the medal count.

Oh man...Miss Li Qian has captured my heart!

OMG. You should have been a fashion photographer.

The Chinese women distance runners especially the marathon runners have performed reasonably well. When Mao said that the Chinese women held up half the sky, he was right when it came to sports. Did you know they actually won more gold medals at the Beijing Olympics than the men.?

I reckon that the Chinese women are competitive to their western counterparts in most sports. This is because , the women in the west don't get the same funding as the men. China has realized this and poured the funding into the women sports teams.
