Bi, 65, was born in the Shilin Yi Autonomous County and began to learn Yi embroidery from family members when she was still young. As a national intangible cultural heritage inheritor, she often participates in various kinds of activities to promote traditional Yi embroidery. Premiered in 2001 and revised in 2010, the ballet presents a "long scroll of Chinese festive customs" in the classical music of The Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky, according to Feng Ying, director of the National Ballet of China.
In the localized version of The Nutcracker, Clara is a girl living in a hutong in Beijing, and in a dream on New Year's Eve, she meets with the legendary monster named Nian and embarks on a mystical journey in a world of Chinese folklore.[Photos provided to China Daily]

Cranes are deployed in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, after a road collapsed near a construction site on Sunday morning. The accident occurred at 9:28 am near a metro station construction site. Guangzhou Metro said a cleaning vehicle and a scooter fell into the pit, which reached a depth of 38 meters.
