Because it's technicly a war on terror because China is fighting terrisom.

Separatism.

Technically, copying G W Bush might rightfully earn you the moniker of a copycat.

In any case, is there any update on these anti separatist activities?

Terrorism, by definition, is:
the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims.

The past deadly attacks in Xinjiang and other parts of China fall perfectly under that category. Plus the motives of those terrorists is separatism, which is a political movement. So in short they are pro-separatism terrorists and China is waging a War on Terror and Separatism. If you are worried about labels so much, we can change it to the “Elimination of Terrorism”, the “Divine War of Anti-Terrorism” or, if it helps you sleep at night, the “Genocide of Terrorism” ;) .

As for their activities, there isn’t much information on it. But the Xinjiang military region’s SOF, SWAT, and Armed Police have been reported to be active in the region. So don’t you fret.
