For these situation you just use helicopters and be done with it.
Helicopters have had survivability issues as seen in Ukraine -- given the aforementioned advantages of STOVL, it could be possible that there is a line of thought where STOVL aircraft become a replacement/upgrade for attack helos?

Worth mentioning, that while helicopters do indeed suffer attrition when in penetration role (who would've possibly expected that to be a thing) - compared to anything ground, they're god level survivable.
I.e. there's probably no direct need for non-rotary VTOLs as emergency replacement assets - helicopters work.

Adding on to A.Man’s video, Global Times has confirmed the first flight of a tiltrotor plane, developed by a private company in Sichuan. This one uses rotating rotor shafts rather than the rotating engine nacelle used by the Boeing V 22. VTOLs do have niche uses, longer range and higher operating speed.

Speaking of which, these should be posted in the Future High Speed Helicopter and Next Gen Rotorcraft thread.

Meanwhile, this thread should be reserved for discussions on jet-powered SVTOL aircrafts.
