Both country’s have a huge appetite for cargo plane it’s not like its Israel we are talking about India here

They wanted to add 16 x C17 but the production closed and they managed to get just that extra 1 white unit

For India it’s more about capability to build than finance

It only took them 40 years to build the helicopter a large cargo would be more like 400 years for them
On the flip side, China's PLA National Defence University's Center for Economic Research recommended the purchase of up to 400 Y-20s. The MOD of course did not release any official figures but this is a pretty reliable info to show the differences in appetite for large transport planes both countries have.
If India only have a demand for just no more than 30 C-17s at most, one can see why they did not bother too much to set up its own domestic production.
There is a clear difference between reasonable analysts and plain nation disparaging. So lets us steer clear of the latter.

The Y-20 again conducted a parachute exercise with the airborne unit recently.
Good that they actually use it in exercise

Occurred at Yanliang, the test flight facility. Most likely a Y-20 fuselage being moved around. A new design should have been spotted at their plants of manufacture before arriving at Yanliang.

Dimensions and landing gear undercarriage do not match that of Y-20. I think this is either a developmental mockup or perhaps an actual prototype/demonstrator for a Y-30 or something.

I'd hazard a modified Y-20 like the modified 200X series J-20s before considering a new airframe. The overall dimensions definitely fit the Y-20 in addition to other details like windscreen arrangement, 6x main landing gears, opening on front surface of wing root, upwards tapered empennage, etc.

A "modified" Y-20 with a different overall size and configuration is a new-sheet design altogether. Windscreen shapes/arrangement, undercarriage, size, nose, all differ significantly from that of the Y-20.
