Until it starts to use a more powerful indigenous engine which can utilise its full heavy lift capacity it will be under utilised

It's like me buying a 7 seater can only installing 5 seats ? What's the point

Y-20 needs to be able to lift a full equipped main battle tank combat ready

Then it would be good to demonstrate it by transporting a tank battalion over a long distance by a airborne division

Then Y-20 has fulfilled its role

Then numbers will come as production increases

I don't know why are you complaining China only has 20-30 large transport plane So the addition of 5 more Y -20 is substantial addition to the strategic lift

Using Russian engine DN 20 the capacity is around 55 Ton which is not bad according to Henri K based on the latest visit by the kids who notice the maximum load printed onboard the aircraft

Would you rather wait than have a heavy transporter now ?
It is immaterial whose engine is on the plane Bette engine will come latter China doesn't have world wide commitment like US so different sort of priority. they do have light tank if needed be
