Re: China's transport plane capacities

... Plus, with the XAC making that announcement about 2012, most people suspect that it has to look a lot like IL-76, otherwise there is no way it can come out that fast.

Y-XX does look a lot like a scaled-down C-17+IL-76

Re: China's transport plane capacities

the Y-XX prototypes and initial batch (if FWS-XX turbofan not available by then) will use D30KP2/WS-18 engines. Now the 606 is developing a high BPR derivative engine of FWS10 core for Y-XX ,rated at 12000kgf SLS thrust class.

So, did China get the license to build D30KP2 as WS-18 when they bought 240 of them or are they just copying it? Also, is the version derived from Taihang better than D30KP2 in any way? It looks like its thrust level is about the same as D30, but it will obviously be much less mature when it comes out.

WS18 = D30KP2 copy.

D-30K may no longer in production since the introduction of more powerful PS-90,the engine itself is based on CFM engine.

so the FWS-XX (FW-Y2) is suppose to be much more fuel efficient than D30KP2? Also, what's this BPR engine, I guess it's not going to be developed?
And if China is copying D30KP2 rather than getting license from Russia, isn't this going to create more problems from Russia? It shouldn't be that hard for China to just get license production after this order of 240, right?

From the specs it looks like the medium by pass engine is the one in the middle column, a copy of the D30KP2, perhaps this is the WS-18.

Wow, those guys have got some subtle humour ´China Air ForcR´...(Force with a latin R!:rofl: Perhaps a cyrillic Я would have been even more cool!)

May be that's a hint for Y-20 Il-76 heritage?? :confused:
