A new aerial remote sensing system based on the Xi'an MA60 airframe has officially entered service. If features six types of sensors for earth observation, such as multi-spectral, hyper-spectral, and thermal/infrared imaging, as well as laser, microwave, and other atmospheric instruments. So far two airframes have been produced, and together they can survey 12664 square km per day.

:rolleyes: While I'll admit the topic might have but more relevant there, the issue is entirely moot at this point. The question was based on the W-20 engine news posted earlier in the thread and it has been answered already. I wasn't expecting the discussion to get out of hand. If people want to still talk about it, THEY can post it there or ask the moderators to move it.

Come one. We are talking about China, all major airlines are state owned. It will be a political task to buy the airplane or engines. For example ARJ-21 is such an uneconomic aircraft, but every major airline is ordering this aircraft.

The ARJ-21 is using foreign engines, but the WS-20 is no smokestack either, despite being based on old technology. So in a pinch, while waiting for the CJ-1000, why not? But this is no longer necessary, as the US is not going to embargo the LEAP engines.

According to this image, the PLAAF is repainting their Y-20A fleet to the latest low-visibility schem. At least this one Y-20A 20041 - the first one assigned to the 13th TD - was originally delivered in the regular scheme.
