China opens up recruitment for planetary defense force. Actually, I think this department actually started much earlier on, but now with an actual asteroid to plant for, they got real chance to actually use it. Clearly, the applications of such a platform is wide ranging.

On November 21, the unveiling ceremony of the National Remote Sensing Data and Application Service Platform (国家遥感数据与应用服务平台) and the National Space Administration Satellite Data and Application International Cooperation Center (国家航天局卫星数据与应用国际合作中心) was held in Haikou. Also unveiled at the ceremony were the National Space Administration Satellite Data and Application International Cooperation Center (国家航天局卫星数据与应用国际合作中心), BRICS Remote Sensing Satellite Constellation Data and Application Center (金砖国家遥感卫星星座数据与应用中心), and Hainan Satellite Data and Application Research Center (海南卫星数据与应用研究中心).

An update: The National Remote Sensing Data and Application Service Platform (国家遥感数据与应用服务平台) and the National Space Administration Satellite Data and Application International Cooperation Center has been put into operation.

DeepBlue and the steelmaker Jigang have registered their jointly developed commercial engine test center for liquid rocket engines. DeepBlue will hold 49% of the shares (and Jigang 51%) in the engine testing company. The project has been going on for sometime. So far, three test benches have been built.

A presentation given by the founder and CEO of Tianbing/Space Pioneer.


Tianlong-3 has a length of 72m, diameter of 3.8m, fairing diameter of 5.2m, take-off mass of 590 tons, take-off thrust of 770 tons, and capacity to LEO of 14 tons. The first stage is powered by nine 85-ton TH-12 LOX/Kerosene engines and the second stage by a TH-12V (restartable). It's designed with launching the Qianfan/G60 constellation in mind. Maiden flight is scheduled for May, 2025:

Latest update on the Tianlong-3 launch vehicle. According to the VP of Tianbing, Tianlong-3 will attempt its maiden flight in June of 2025.

Tianwen-2 probe arrives at launch site

BEIJING, Feb. 20 (Xinhua Song Chen) -- A probe for China's planetary exploration project Tianwen-2 mission arrived at the Xichang Satellite Launch Center on Feb. 20, the reporter learned from the China National Space Administration (CNSA).
Tianwen-2 mission will be launched through a launch, the implementation of asteroid 2016 HO3 accompanied by flight, sampling, return and the main-belt comet 311P accompanied by flight detection and other tasks. At present, the launch site facilities are in good condition, and the pre-launch tests and preparations are being pushed forward in an orderly manner according to the plan, with the launch scheduled for the first half of this year.

Arrowhead/Space Epoch has successfully carried out a static ignition test of its VTVL test vehicle, which will be used in an upcoming sub-orbital flight with ocean splashdown and towed recovery. The test lasted more than 20 seconds.

Arrowhead/Space Epoch has declared on its Weixin account that the VTVL vehicle is ready for flight in March. The VTVL test will see the vehicle carry out a high-altitude engine shutdown and restart, as well as a hovering test over the ocean surface before performing a soft splashdown landing.
