Shenzhou 19 pre-launch news conference, CMSA speaker responded to question regarding NASA's stranded astronauts:
我们对NASA高度重视航天员安全表示赞赏,同时也预祝两名航天员能安全归来。
We appreciate that NASA attaches great importance to astronaut safety, and we also wish the two astronauts a safe return.
I can't stop thinking it is more of a mockery. If NASA really cares for safety, it wouldn't have launched starliner without a backup rocket and spacecraft on the ground no matter what they expect the result. NASA would not have set Artemis III in 2026 after just one uncrewed demonstration of SpaceX HLS. For reference, there is Shenzhou 20 and CZ-2F Y-20 waiting on the ground already now, they would act as rescurer in case 19 got into troubles. That is what care and seriousness means. Now when I look back, the US has always been prioritize "size contest" over everything else. Space shuttle was designed without escape system relying on non-existing reliability. Even Apollo was not much better if we look at how many US astranauts were killed. So much bragging and bloating.
