of a high-earth-orbit satellite internet constellation, which now covers all of China as well as key areas along the Belt and Road.

The 2023 China Satellite Application Conference was recently held in Beijing. According to an announcement at the conference, China Satellite Communications, a subsidiary of CASC, has completed the initial stage of China's first HEO satellite Internet constellation, which covers all of China and key areas along the Belt and Road. It is expected that by the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan, the total capacity of high-throughput satellites will exceed 500Gbps.

All of China's statements about the crewed lunar landing state that they are going before 2030. Why is that? Why not just make a statement saying 2029 instead of "before 2030"? My theory is that there's a slim chance that if everything goes perfectly, they could land by 2028, but since the chance is so low, they don't want to state 2028 in case they miss the deadline and they don't want to state 2029 to leave room open for 2028 in case development goes faster than expected

Something may have gone wrong. I hope this is something misconstrued or, at least, everyone is ok.
There has been a huge expansion in solid rocket construction in China. All the private space companies, and the military rockets. So it is hardly surprising that accidents are more likely to happen. But since this is a test facility it shouldn't be a big issue.

The answer is similar to

May 25, 1961, John F. Kennedy:

... I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to the Earth.

Nobody can set an exact time, date or year for anything to happen in the future. It is not something special with China. There is really no need to make some reason out of it. 2028, 2029 are all the same thing of "before 2030".

Uh. Yeah. As if a Chinese space company would care about US government sanctions. If China cared about what the US government wanted they wouldn't even have a space program.
In the Muslim countries they sanction women for being unveiled. In Singapore for spitting gum, and in Israel for displaying watermelons on the street. Let's be real, is it realistic to accomandate the preferences from all the cultures and colors of the world? There's a reason we only go after the laws written by our own legislative branch.

And there is no dispute what the law says about Wagner. It is a foreign PMC, while subject to export control like other foreign entity, Wagner has never put itself under investigation or shown other risky behavior.

Nice solar panel configuration. I am pretty sure the solar panel has the highest efficiency possible available at that time ... any idea of how much power could be generated by the panels?
Solar panels of Wentiancan provide more than 430kWh eletric power every day. So solar panels on both Lab modules can provide more than 860kWh. And the panels on Tianhe, Shenzhou and Tianzhou may produce another 400kWh altogether.
