Not sure if this was shared here before:

The core module cabin area for the crew are shown here, the ones with numbers and highlighted in green(1,2,3). This is interesting as since this was based off a Mir core, the layout is different. In Mir, the thicker area is where the cabin area is located.

Just to drive my point from my post above:

Here is the Mir layout.

As an addition, here is the Mir compared to Tianhe. As you can see, it is not a carbon copy at all(Afterall, Mir is 80s tech). Different equipments(robotic arm, gyroscopes, photovoltaics, etc), dimensions and interior layout are different.

isn't the 3 person crew too small?

I would personally like a 6 person crew. So that more experiments can be made, include more international astronauts etc.

I mean if you are going to do a space station, better to go "big" and future proof it by having more astronatus, more space for more experiments etc

I think it is better not to overdo it on the first permanent space station. If anything I think it is too large.

Disagree. There is a huge amount of research that can be done on microgravity. Especially for new materials research this is super important.

Personally I dont care too much about astronauts just sleeping there. What is most important is how many experiments they can do.

These experiments can be critical for many areas and can lead to new breakthroughs. Plus you can also draw international partners and leverage astronauts positions for gains in other areas

A space station does not only serve for research but also for soft power

They have backup copy of Tianhe module. They could launch it later if they want to expand the crew to possibly 6.

Futuristic 'sky ladder' and more achievable manned lunar rover designs being unveiled.

The "sky ladder" concept is basically the perfect system we would want in the future, however for now it is just a pipe dream.

The manned lunar Rover is actually cool, I especially liked the wheel plates. However all these starting deployments seem almost impossible. Its really not good to have so many deployable parts on the rover
