Doesn't sound like soft landing to me, sounds like a normal deorbit burn and lithobraking to avoid space junk. Although as I understand it due to MASCON on the moon low lunar orbits aren't stable and given enough time would crash anyway without station keeping burns.

ascent stage of Chang‘e 5 has left the orbit and "landed" on the moon under control, still not sure if it's soft landing or not

unlikely since it doesn't have any descent control mechanism

Just watched the Starship flight yesterday. Holy shit. China lost sooo much time in the 2 1/2 years after the July 2017 Long March 5 explosion... it is massively behind now.
