The ascender module of China's Chang'e-5 spacecraft prepares for upcoming missions - to rendezvous and dock with other modules of the vessel which are waiting for it after it blasted back into space, carrying rocks from the moon's surface.

What does the finial represent? Can't make out anything except that it's a white sphere and since moon has no highwinds it's obviously not there for any practical reasons

Really? I thought Chang’e 7 was going to carry a drone to look into a crater of eternal darkness.

I am not sure, (I don't think) that 6, 7 and 8 are going to do that hopping thing (not a level flying drone, but just jumping).

6, 7 and 8 are in the phase 4 of Chinese moon program. The hopping thing IMO is the phase (5?) after that which is to build moon station.

Besides, this 7 is not that 7, this 6 is not that 6. Things are fluid depending on the previous step. So even if the 7 is doing the hopping thing, it is the new 7, not the old 7 which is the backup of 6.

Remember, the number can represent the actual physical craft (6 and 7), or the task 6 (6 and its backup).

When will it dock with the other modules?
