Wentian is 17.7m long and its dry mass is ~21500kg.
really hope everything would go smoothly tomorrow, i couldn't help getting a little nervous, seeing that there seemed to be unusually more pre-launch publications this time.....They are that confident about mission success.
Some good screen captures of the Wentian module. It has eight internal experimental cabinets and an external mounting platform that can accomodate 22 experiments. It also carries 1.5 tons of propellant.
CMS should use aerial work forklifts from Dingli instead of these Haulotte lifts. They apparently have similar global market share and products. Moreover, these landmark state programs create reputation for these machinery companies.
I can't say it is more advanced. The Chinese one is much larger and longer and having a joint in the middle. So it is more complicated. But the complication is probably due to the different location of the socket instead of being advanced. The Chinese one's socket are placed further away from the docking interface, demanding a longer arm which has to be folded during launch which means the extra joint.View attachment 93917View attachment 93918Look like Chinese Lyappa (What's it called?) is much more advanced than their Russian counterpart
From what I recall, the arm on Wentian CAN be combined with the existing arm WHEN NEEDED. Otherwise, it is used independently.Long time ago there were statements that new Wentian arm will be combined to existed one, creating single extended arm... I doubt they would sacrifice that much weight and engineering for just single usage.
