No, you're mistaken. CMSE's website can't host such high quality video but bilibili's video is much higher quality.

There are plenty bilibili 4k or even 8k HDR footage. Bilibili is also the first major Chinese online video hosting platform to support 4k HDR with dolby atmos.

But you need a subscription account + proper device to fully access 4k content.

To be clear, I did not deny the original footage being 8K. However most people here are outside of China and do not have subscription account in Bilibili, so we can not see anything beyond 2K anywhere even though many people have device capable of 4K.

CMSE should NOT have relied on Bilibili's subscription based service to release the 8K footage. CMSE's information is NOT commercial for some company to make profit. CMSE is government agency like Foreign Ministry. People do not pay to hear the speech of FM speaker. That is why CCTV is there.

What CMSE can do is something like NASA does, upload the original onto one of their dedicated servers to make sure what CMSE is saying is not filtered by or dependent on Bilibili, Youtube or vimeo etc. Example is NASA photo archive, where full resolution photo in TIFF can be more than 300MB accompanied by JPEG of hundreds KB.

The key is for agency like CMSE being the ultimate authority and source of information. On this account, NASA is doing a much better job. And I have expected China to do even better due to the history of state's prominent position.

I want to go off topic a bit to rant about this long standing issue of the Chinese governments at all levels. Most of the branches do not have a good online facade, technologically and aesthetically. They either do not know how to do it, or even do not care about it at all.

If you want to build your own database, you're out of luck. They have not changed the format since day 1. There is no table to show regional data points separately.
