This is completely nonsensical and a quick path to an uncontrollably escalatory war! There will be tens of thousands of StarLink satellites in orbit once the constellation is complete. Any sort of ability to destroy, damage or degrade it would require a massive investment in disrupting in what is still a private enterprise.
Not necessarily. They can make an orbital satellite to destroy them. Try reading about the Soviet Polyus spacecraft.

It was originally designed to destroy the US Star Wars satellites to be launched by the BMDO with the Delta Clipper. It had a 1MW laser to destroy satellites.

They made the first move. Anything in response is justified self defense.

A neighbor who is a gun owner and has declared he hates you, has recently bought scopes and hired a defense lawyer. You are justified in buying your own gun.

Just because an enemy target is privately owned doesn't mean you can't target it. In capitalist countries many power stations are privately owned, is it escalatory to attack them?

For a more extreme example, is it immoral to attack privately owned Monowitz concentration camp, which was controlled by private German conglomerate IG Farben?

5th episode of "Hello Mars" about Zhurong rover design. According to the deputy mission designer Jia Yang it is "probably the only" rover using active suspension.

I went to study what does "active suspension" mean in planetary rover. I find the design paper of "Mars Exploration Rover" (Curiosity rover). Its system is called "rocker and bogie". It is also used on Perseverance rover. Here it is

Basically, in "Rocker and bogie" design both rocker and bogie are rigid pieces after deployment. They are connected to the chassis through the differential interface. The differential interface is passive. So there is no adjustment of length and angle of pivot or joint. This means that the height of the vehicle (ground clearance) can not be adjusted. This means Curiosity and probably Perseverance can not do the "worm movement" which demands the axel distance to be actively adjustable.

Another difference is that Zhurong is 6 wheel drive and 6 wheel steering. "Rocker and Bogie" design is 6 wheel drive but 4 wheel steering. Center wheels can not turn, because of lacking the ability to actively adjust the bogie, the center wheels can not be lifted either. So Curiosity and probably Perseverance can not do the "Crab movement" either.

Jia Yang used the word "probably" is very moderate because Curiosity is certainly not "active suspension". Perseverance is based on the same design, there is no open information indicating it uses "active suspension". So Jia Yang is only saying so to be on the safe side since proving negative is almost impossible. But it is almost certain IMO.

This is OT, but I feel the need to point out that your opinion is quite over reactive. Do you remember the noise from US that their satellite were blinded by ground laser when travelling over China? It did not escalate to a war. It barely got official protest. This kind of ground station (container sized) can be put on large ships so satellites can be damaged permanently or rendered useless for a period of time from anywhere.

The bottom line is, in peace time NOBODY would do it, in war time everybody is doing it if they can, so your concern is not an issue.

To everyone else, this thread is about "Space program". I believe to most of us it does not include "anti-satellite warfare and system". Such subject should not have been brought here.

By checking google map. The three blue circled area are residential areas, they look newly built houses after Wenchang site was built. The nearest area to the 921 (CZ-5DY) launch pad is only 2 km.

Hainan province must pay a huge compensation to move those houses if this plan is to go forward.
