Sir to be frank, the potential plan purchase is part of a PR boost for Marcos midterm election last May and it backfire badly. You can smell the corruption even reaching your home state of Texas as it stinks in high heaven. How much kickback the Marcoses will received together with his cronies, from past experience about half. With the recent victory of Sarah Duterte candidates in the senate and in the House, Marcos is a lame duck president and he will be impeached within the next 3 years if he proceed with the purchase as this is one of many tangible evidence of massive corruption he had done from the last 3 years.

Excerpt from the recent Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore.

The Filipino defence secretary is very arrogant in his reply to the Chinese representatives. Also, why were there people clapping when the Filipino official accused the Chinese of spreading propaganda? I think participants in this forum should at least be neutral, unless the forum has been infiltrated with paid actors to try to humiliate the Chinese delegation?

Why would you ever expect a forum full of official and/or uniformed representatives of their countries to be anywhere close to neutral? The gathering is politically charged by its very nature; neutrality would defeat the point. Diplomats are supposed to be polite but not neutral, and most of these folks aren't even professional diplomats.

(Will this be affected by RE/magnet ban?)
Bro do you know the combat radius of this aircraft? 440km

The FA-50 has a combat radius of approximately 444 kilometers (239 nautical miles) when configured with a centerline fuel tank, two AIM-9s, and two AGM-65s. The single-seat variant of the FA-50, with a 300-gallon auxiliary fuel system, is expected to increase this radius by 20% to 30%,

Do you the distant from Puerto Princesa airbase to Kalayaan Island in the SCS? 520 km

The distance between Puerto Princesa City and Pag-asa Island is approximately 280 nautical miles (520 km), which is about 320 miles. This island, also known as Thitu Island, is located in the Spratly Islands in the South China Sea and is the administrative center of the Kalayaan municipality.

So when we do the math this aircraft is ideal for COIN operation NOT to patrol the SCS.

Why do you think China downgraded it's involvement...

Its a western based think tank, which does this event in Singapore to masquerade as "neutral"

Isnt the event a nato affiliate organizer? But curious, why i singapore willing to host it tho...
Singapore is always like this. It won't be able to stay on the sides forever though, moment of truth is coming.

China downgrading it's involvement should be a good signal that if Singapore wants this event to keep it's relevance, it should optimize the NATO think tant, it's guests, and it's talking points

The meeting is funded by the US, organized by UK and hosted by Singapore.

When a PLA official asked the following question in the 2022 session, Singapore defense minister basically said "you don't have to attend"

“Some view the Shangri-la Dialogue as positive thinking. It’s a forum bringing high-ranking officials and scholars from this region to improve communication and exchanges,” said Zhao Xiaozhuo, a senior fellow at the Academy of Military Sciences and a representative of China’s People’s Liberation Army.

“But there are negative views: Views (that) the Shangri-la Dialogue, as a forum, (is) dominated by the United States and its allies, serving the interest of the United States and its allies. And also the topics discussed often point to differences, rather than cooperation, and the divergence rather than convergence.

“So my question is, what role over the past years Shangri-la Dialogue has played in Asia Pacific security and how do you view the comments and opinions I have mentioned about?”
...

But there is also an opposing view, said Dr Ng, who noted that there are people who do not like to attend forums that are “too structured, too predictable”.

“They feel that it’s too scripted,” he said. “That when you say things, the end is already determined … so why not not say it and just send me something and I can read it, rather than travel a few thousand miles to arrive in Singapore?

“For China, it must decide for itself whether the Shangri-La Dialogue adds value. There is no coercion for you to attend."
