It makes sense for the US to import from their allies, in fact, that is one of the reasons for maintaining those relationships. The only reason China has to be 100% self-sufficient is because it lacks a global network of allied countries with advanced economies capable of specializing in certain technological areas.

China is an EU sized country with even larger economy than EU, so by itself it is already a network with a lot of regional advanced economies that are individually larger than most smaller countries, it is very hard for any outside MIC to compete against them.

Even though China can import from say Russia, it is not that surprising that the best stuff China can get is also locally sourced, basically if EU had an unified army they'd take the best from France, Germany (and UK before UK left lol), and they would largely be 100% self sufficient.

Yes. Just a minor example -- NUAA was directly involved in the Skysaker drones used in artillery spotting. According to a recent article by Yankeesama the military is very impressed with the performance of these drones.

Sorry but that made me LOL, typical reaction when an American strays outside the western information bubble. But why 5-7 years? Don't tell me you buy the "nadir of power" carfentanyl-tier copium the Pentagon has switched to peddling. Unless god intervenes to smite the PLA it's only getting worse from here on.

Chinese government won't be able to sell a war of aggression to the country anyways, even if they had so much tech advantage they can destroy the US military in America's side of the Pacific. Which they defintely don't have. Nor the numbers to do so. Less than 2% spending only gets you so far even if you have the largest economy.

As long as US doesn't start invading China or doing something crazy with Russia, chances of PLA going head to head with US army is really low.

The U.S. is still relatively ahead of China’s military unless your country decides to become suicidal by trying to invade China (Taiwan) and that would be a problem of unfortunate proportions for both countries, but more so for the Americans operating far away from the mainland.
