From 26/01/2021 to 27/01/2021, Chinese and US forces conducted working meetings to discuss US prisoners of war and missing people and their bodily remains. The two sides conducted deep discussion, demonstrating China's humanitarian commitment towards the US.
What in the world? Did PLA sink an US SSN?
Xi Yazhou and his friend Mr Su discussed this "CNY present" again in their (about 50 minutes in) among other topics. Mr Su described it as "will be visible from coastal Taiwan" or "bring Taiwan's lights to everyone.", so it sounds like some sort of overfly or intrusion into Taiwan airspace.

The thing that intrigues me is I've gone back and listen to older podcasts and Mr Su have made many big statements such as "there's a Chinese PMC, registered in Hong Kong and have several retired US generals on payroll which looks after BRI project security issues". If he was making up shit to gain credibility then he could've easily claimed the ABM test was the CNY present, yet he's adamant that it was unrelated.

Don't think so, because Xi Yazhou actually butt in with a "doesn't China have majority ownership in Blackwater now anyway?" and then they laughed about it. But the topic was specifically a "Chinese Blackwater".
Not WZ-8. My guess is H-6 with either J-16 or Su-35 escort. Supposedly WZ-8 has already trespassed one of the military installations in Taiwan (not on the main island, so maybe Penghu?) without detection. The goal this time is supposedly a show of force, and if you use an high altitude reconnaissance plane it defeats the purpose.
Also keep in mind that they only have plans for the so called CNY present. Whether it happens depends on a lot of factors. Nothing is set in stone.

I doubt the mainland will launch a provocation on Taiwan or such a "strong" showing of force that it may escalate to war during CNY. Those rumours sound like they are bs and covered by the old "it's just a plan and we may not do it" cop out.
