Thar Foundation trainees visit Thar Coal projects.
The Thar Foundation trainees at Polytechnic Institute Mithi visited Thar Coal projects as part of their study and witnessed in person the mining operations and construction of the 330x2MW power plant at Block II.
The trainees also learned about different community development initiatives taken by the Thar Foundation in the sectors like Health, Education, Livelihood, Promotion of Local Handicrafts, and Bio-saline agriculture.
The Thar Foundation in collaboration with Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (STEVTA) has sponsored the technical education of these Thari students, a diploma, in refrigeration and air-conditioning.
The course has been customized to fulfill the needs for the technical human resource in the sector, created by the companies currently working or planning to start operations at Thar Coal.
These bright Thari students are expected to graduate in June/July this year and, then, fulfilling the technical requirements, will proceed to an on-the-job training.
Ultimately, equipped with the useful technical skills, they will compete for the job on merit for Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company (SECMC) and Engro Powergen Thar Limited (EPTL), or earn their livelihood on their own by starting an independent business.
