Does China have enough iron ore stockpile for making military equipment?
lol given BHP just caved on RMB use yesterday, this aged like raw seafood on a hot summer day. now china can use rmb to stockpile a strategic reserve of iron ore as much as needed for a contingency like prolonged war. also, only a clown would assume simandou would shut down permanently just due to a single accident or case of sabotage. it will almost certainly be reopened after an investigation determines how it was sabotaged to begin with and changes are made to prevent it in future. as for reserves, australian market analysis estimates 90-120 million tons in undisclosed chinese strategic reserves of iron ore. given australia's doing most of the selling, i trust their analysis on their biggest customer's likely strategic reserves of iron ore more than any other sources (short of chinese government disclosure, which hasn't happened yet, if ever).
