@siegecrossbow is right, we need to blow up and redo CGTN from scratch. It sucks! Hire all the journalists who were forced to leave RT America!
Probably wouldn’t make much of a difference. RT got banned didn’t it?
CGTN isn't banned yet.
Probably as soon as CGTN gets to RT's formal rating/popularity, it will be in cross hair for one reason or another.
RT got banned due to their pro-Russia coverage of the war in Ukraine. Beforehand, they were popular with a sizeable viewership.
I think western govts have been wanting to ban RT for a long time. They just never got the chance to do so until now.
My point is that even if CGTN is successful, it could be banned at a moment’s notice.
Well, my point is western govts didn't ban RT during peacetime. They waited till now to do so because the war gave them the perfect excuse. IMO, it shows that even when western govts want to do something, they usually wait for a good opportunity first before making their move. Probably due to fear of looking hypocritical with their "freedom of speech" slogans if they just ban RT out of the blue.
I think if CGTN becomes popular, and the organization and staff are extra carefully, they can stay in business for a long time unless there's a war (where China is involved).
Reunification with Taiwan is probably gonna come after a war though.
Even then, they can probably come with some other excuse as well.
