@M P. It appears you have no idea why there was such a huge jump in retail spending and GDP. After 2008 recession, China started printing inordinate amount of cash and pumped into the economy. Between 2008 and 2020, China's economy grew by $10.83 Trillion but money supply increased by a whopping $26.7 Trillion! Why is cash in the economy increasing more than GDP, where is it coming from if pple never worked for it? Well China printed trillions of cash, gave it as loans to developers to build ghost cities and infrastructure, money went into the economy so people started spending. US GDP $21 Trillion, Money supply, $20 Trillion. As you can see, US money supply, is the same as GDP, no excess printing. China GDP $15.5 Trillion, money supply $33.5 Trillion. Excess of $18 Trillion. China is a smaller economy than US but it has $13.5 Trillion more in cash than US. If you look at the ratio of China's money supply to GDP, you will find that China prints more cash than Zimbabwe, the african country where bread was once going for 35 million Zimbabwean dollars, Chinese people did not work for this money to have such a huge jump in economy, China printed money out of thin air and gave it to people.
