how do we tell from a frontal view that this is a J16 but not a Su30?

HUD is also an obvious giveaway.

waaaa....rocket pod...

now i'm thinking, does NATO/Russian nomally train their pilot gunning the ground regularly? I can hardly remember any images of Chinese fighter jet fire a gun to ground, was this an equivelent way of Chinese train their pilot ground attacking with thier more favourate weapon 'rocket pod'?

K-8 and JL-9 do that with some regularity. There was also a recent exercise where a JH-7 fired its gun against ground targets.

Would be amazing to visit there, but I would hate to live there, as even being buzzed by J20s would start to loose its charm after a while.

If there were no pandemic I'd be in Quzhou last summer and getting buzzed by J-20s on a daily basis. I think my aunt is probably already annoyed with the noise.
