So we're roughly at 150 J16s. Total number of Flankers in China's service may be approaching 650 airframes. (assuming all but 24 of original Su-27s have been retired now)

Deino is the man to ask?? China has been very well served by all the Flanker variants, long range, and good load hauling, I'm anxious to see what they do with the J-15, but the fact that they are moving ahead with more J-16's confirms what a pivotal airframe the Chinese Flanker has become....
we surely don't know the size of each batch but from all info I have the batches at SAC for J-16s is for Batch 01 to 05 at a maximum 28 confirmed. Even the J-11 has at a maximum 29 confirmed, so that I assume this would be 32 (4*8) as the most likely maximum number.
In summary, I come at a high-rate estimation to about 140 and given a lower estimation to about 120, which fits nicely to the known units: 176. and 172. FTTB (not at full strength, maybe 6-8) and the four combat brigades (7., 40, 98. and 3. Brigades are at full strength with 24-28 aircraft).
But that's just my best guess.
Anyone familiar with the Weibo user "牧是家"? Link here:
He/she just posted the following photo with the caption: "Chinese version of the Su-35". Any idea what he might be talking about?
