The pic posted shows yankeesama talking about Japan's plans to upgrade their F-15J fleet, and mentions that their progress is likely to be far slower than "BG", which according to context refers to the Chinese upgrade plan of a 3rd-gen heavy fighter. The only 3rd-gen heavy fighter in China with a "B" in its name is J-11B so I think he is indeed referring to modernized J-11B (also G can be short for "改" or "modified/ improved", which makes sense)How reliable is this post, that the modernised J-11B is called J-11BG??

nope, this is I believe the first confirmation (if it's indeed what I think it is) from a relatively reliable source that a J-11B upgrade program exists and is in progress. Yankeesama didn't directly state what the upgrades will be like in any way.Any word on what the upgrade will be like? Is it going to adopt certain systems in the J-11D?
Is it just me or is that radome the same color as those on the J-16s?It's not everyday that you get to see a J-11B with a white radome.

]The latest image (November 2019) suggested that J-11B may have been upgraded (J-11BG?) including a new AESA radar based on the experience of the J-11D project, which might have been cancelled.

yeah that name's been around since 10.30 when Yankeesama first mentioned the "BG" designation. I'm actually quite hyped to see a new modified J-11BHui Tong is calling this the J-11BG with a new AESA -

Same here. There are a lot of J-11B out there and them getting AESA radars along with new EW systems (perhaps watered-down versions of J-16/J-11D EW systems) would make them quite deadly.
