This is really for practicing using computer assisted aiming to accurately drop dumb bombs.
The dispenser simulates the weight and drag of a much larger bomb.
The small practice bombs are to gauge the effectiveness of the drop.
With these, students can make 8 drops with 2 weapons stations used. It would yield significant savings in fuel and munitions costs compared to dropping 8 full sized practice bombs to get the same training effect.
The student should also be able to make all 8 drops in one sortie as opposed to needing several sorties with full sized practice bombs. So training efficiency would also be greatly improved from using these.
