To give an impression of what is the Flanker production capacity has anyone the numbers of Flankers produced in earlier years? Flankers are produced in batches and while it is possible to increase the production per year without building a second production facility that can only be to a very limited extent.

Fair enough, although I don't think J-15 production will be as a burden as J-16 production, given that the Type 001A & 002 are still some years away from service.

If they can install an AESA on newly-built J-11Bs, what's stopping them from integrating a fueling probe?

Nothing of course, but then one begins to wonder just how extensive this supposed restart of production or retrofit actually is and the purpose of J-11D in context...

Fuel probes aren't like radars. The radar is somewhat modular with a dedicated space on the nose that's preallocated. A fuel probe would need to be connected to a fuel line all the way to a tank as well as a mechanism to retract and extend the probe (assuming they don't just J-10 it), which would require structural and space allocation changes in the already cramped nose, and perhaps other parts of the airplane.

Why ??? Already the first contract was questioned, denied and even condemned by several members here ... and finally it went thru as reported. And even more it follows the same procedures as the previous Flanker-sales: At first a small number and then a larger follow on order.

As such I would not outright turn this down...

The JF-17 Block 1 was able to be retrofitted with a fueling probe, so I'd imagine that adding one to a new J-11B derivative would be easier.

The Chinese are really beefing up their defences. I stand by my opinion that the Su-35SK's will be stationed in the SCS and in the southern provinces. They are preparing for a standoff against the PRC and maybe even the US within the first island chain

Last time at least the Russians were making tons of noise years before the actual delivery. Hard to imagine they are keeping quiet this time

AFAIK, this su-35 sale was just for engine tech grab. The russians wanted to sell more, but the chinese wanted less. So IDK why suddently the chinese would want more. Besides, the russians have been quiet about it.
