Seems as if production of the J-11B will be discontinued this year, with production being switched to J-16 and J-15.

even if true, would that suggest there is one last batch of j11b in production? because if not, j11b production ended last year already.

IIRC the J-11B or a new variant of it is also said to be undergoing retrofits with J-16 radar according to the article.

I understood that J-15 and J-16 are already in batch production: the plant produces either a batch of J-15's or a batch of J-16's. If the J-11B was still in production that would mean that there was a second batch production facility that continued while the first one was converted or newly build for the J-15/J-16 production.
And if the J-11B production ends this year or next does that mean it will be converted to J-16 production?

I think J-11B production has ended already and its plant was converted for J-15/J-16 production, but does anyone know?

I'd say that is the only logical conclusion, given that we are definitely seeing new J-15s and J-16s, is that J-11b production has been on hiatus.

So, how many J-11B produced total?

That means Shenyang needs to hire some more talented engineers and plant managers.;)

Sometimes I forget how elegant and beautiful these Flankers are. Simply couldn't get tired of it!

P.S: it's just a nice picture

Anyone has the picture of this particular flanker (or another one from the same regiment) from the other side? I am building a model of in 1/48 and wonder whether there is any regiment emblems or anything like that on it.

Sadly not, but this is an older image of a J-11 from the former 29. Fighter Division (FD). As far as I know the former 86. AR / 29. AD was transferred to the 14. FD and became 41. AR ... as such this unit no longer exists in this form.

Regarding any "regiment emblems or anything like that" I have to disapoint You, since all current Flankers are simply more or less the same with barely any differences (besides a different shade of grey maybe).

Once the 1. and 2. FD wore briefly colourful division emblems ... but these days are gone. As far as I remember the only special marks on a PLAAF Flanker are some formation stripe on a few 1. AD birds and a prominent Chinese Flag on a few 2. AD aircraft.
