China confronts Indian navy vessel

So the whole thing was made up??? Do we know who reported it first?

IMO, there were two possibilities; first, like you said, the whole thing was made up (and this is rather usual). second, the real story was far more serious but was down played by both sides. China didn't make a comment (they didn't deny it). But to me, the first possibility is much higher.

Already in A.Mace's post (#3) we have an Indian article saying the Indian Navy denies confrontation. However, the body of the article has the same "facts", with very similar wording, as the FT article. It's just that FT calls it a "confrontation", and the Indian Navy does not.

Well supposedly the Indian authorities have denied it from the start and look how this story won't die. That's the reason why. What more to incite nationalism is to throw out something like this. It's the Gulf of Tonkin except this time the perpetrators are not any of the parties involved yet the same goals can be achieved. Look at the countries involved. India... Vietnam... Two countries where the people are at the heart of their nationalism and not their governments. Bypass the governments that probably know better than to be manipulated by outsiders and have the people spark a powder keg. If only the Mongolians had a navy...

Read post #18 of siege. I think you guys should consider this question seriously. If it was started simply by the media, than the whole story is a "make-up" one. If the story was leaked from some naval personnel, then the story would be more complicated.
