Cars! Cars! Cars!

Finally, I decide to go with a used Highlander. Previously, I like the Pruis 3 but have to admit that I do not have enough finance to afford it so I down grade my requirement to Prius 2 which I prefer the Prius 2007 Touring Edition. I like this car because of its excellent MPG and futuristic design. The Prius is much more modern compared to its competitor of the same generation. However, I was opposed by people surrounding me saying that the Prius is too low and not suitable for Cambodia's road condition; it is prone to error due to its complicated computerized controls; saving in gasoline but costly in maintenance; after buying you won't be able to sell it out because no one want it; blah, blah, blah. I finally give up! Cambodia is such a strange country. There is a slogan in tourism "Cambodia, The Kingdom of Wonders!" People translate this to "A Wondering Country". People spend their hard earning saving to buy things that others like (not the things that they like).

Without Prius, Highlander is my last choice. This car fits my need quite well except its fuel consumption. High ground clearance, large space, strong engine and 4WD. I surf the web and met this car, then I marry it home. It's a Highlander 2001, 4WD without limited. It's a 6 cylinders and I know this car is rather fuel thirsty. RAV4 is better in fuel consumption; however, I just don't like its internal design. The body of the RAV4 is too short; look like it's a small car which being made big. My Highlander is a 12-year car and I plan to use it for another five years before selling it out with whatever price.

Good choice. Toyotas are excellent vehicles. I have a 2003 Toyota Camry. It has low mileage for the year only 83,000.

I really like Toyota's. I like Subaru's also.

My favorite vehicle's.

So you have the Toyota Camry 2003. The area where you live have thick snow every year, doesn't it? I think the Camry doesn't deal well with snow due to its low ground clearance. The FJ you mentioned work best for this. Or at least you should try to have some crossover like the Landcruiser or the small Highlander like the one I'm having. I watch video online, driving on snow and ice are really, really dangerous.

Unless you live in rural areas the DOT (Dept of Transportation) does a pretty good job of clearing snow etc. Most cars do just fine... and snow days are actually quite few and far between. I live in MO (midwest) and I would say on any given year actual days where it snows heavy is probably less than ten. When it comes to snow, tires are more important than ground clearance. also front wheel or 4WD is definitely prefered over rear wheel drive. Anyone who lives in any country that snows will tell you rear wheel drive cars like Corvettes, Camaros etc have a very hard time getting up hill etc.

I thought most cars nowadays are front-wheel drive or all wheel drive. People who live in snowy or mountainous areas prefer larger engines such as V6 over V4 and four-wheel drive over front-wheel drive. Regarding tires, I did heard somebody suggested that the original wheels of the Toyota Highlander do not work well on snow or icy roads. He called that a car's wheels and suggested that it must be changed to a truck's wheels.

Highlanders fit perfectly into Cambodia's middle class users with its reasonable price, e.g. my car costs me $14,500 (used, model 2001), reasonable fuel consumption and high ground clearance. People in Cambodia would tell you that high ground clearance is just too important even in a big city like Phnom Penh. If you drive a little out of the city, you might have a chance to drive off road (that's why Landcruiser type SUVs have so popular in Cambodia), and if you plan to visit some province or rural area, chances are that you might drive in the jungle. In raining season, you better have an amphibious car, or your car might be drown on some roads.

Exactly..Snow in Iowa? No problem it will be cleared within hours off the main roads. Side streets have to wait a little longer. Now gravel country rodas...you better have 4WD. It will take a couple of days.

We get about 3ft(91cm) of snow in our area every winter.

Actually the price are pretty expensive too. Anyway are the website in US$?

Attached is a website for car prices in Singapore (all in Sing dollar).

Do note that I am not selling car here or promoting cars, just to let anyone interested to know what you are looking at when buying a car here. And like what Vin Diesel had said, "The moral of the story... do not get a car in Singapore."
