why does russia care about iranian oil? it has way more than iran. its the richest in oil in the whole world, and sells the most too.

Even targetted strikes by the Israelis on iran would probably trigger a full scale war.

Iran is a proud sovereign nation that believes it has the right to nuclear power as much as anybody. Most of the populace believe it too.

Any aggression by israel would be seriously unwise.

You also underestimate the amount of leverage the US has with israel. The last time I checked, Israel got around $3 billion a year off the US.

The reason why I believe that Israel would strike Iran is first and foremost that it did so in Iraq 1981, the situation was not that much different then. The Israelis usually vary the way they strikes, though, meaning that e.g. special forces that where ground inserted could be used this time.

Please explain HOW the Isrealis would succeed. Do you know how many risks were involved with the 1981 strikes? If Saddam even fired off a dozen or so SAMs or sent in a squadron of planes after the Israelis, the Israelis would have ran out of fuel and crashed or been shot down. And the Iranians have the S-300 guarding their nuclear plant as well (please don't mention that the Israeli special forces will take them out because I am pretty sure that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards have every inch of territory covered). If airstrikes really were that easy, the Israelis and even the Americans would have launched them long ago.

For years the Ayotollahs in Iran have been saying 'death to israel'.
Any aggressive moves by the Israelis would give these Mullahs the perfect excuse to attack and start a full scale war with israel.

It would also be difficult for the international community to justify israel's aggression. So if Israel finds that it has bitten off more than it can chew by attacking iran, the best help they can expect is for some foreign countries (probably the US) to mediate a peace deal.
