Bridge collapses in China, 22 deaths

Well here none is laughing. I was merely pointing out how cynical the situation might seem. Also my inturperation in the US steel issue was that the member that orginally stated those things had quite naive and nationalistic "we do it better" type of thinking shining trough.

Due my studies these things concerns me and I have few classmates working in bridge-building-yards. Like I said I belive that this is more due some induvidual(s) major nedgelence and/or complete lack of experties than anything nationally related thing. Ofcourse one cannot be too blue-eyed and say that none bigger and more general proplems in byrocraty wouldn't have effect on these things.

Was there last summer. Very nice place to spend a romantic weekend. Drove by the construction site on the bus in. Hope it doesn't damper the tourism.

a bit off topic here but if chinese infered structures is this bad how reliable is china in mobilizing it's troop movement specialy near tibet where road are specialy hazardeuo. just to mentian that us builds highways for the purpose of mobilizing troops faster

I was there in 2005 for 3 days, absolutely beautiful place. The streetside barbeques in the towns there were 100% the best culinary experience I've ever had.

Lets hope this kind of thing doesnt happen again

Corruption?
This is on Chinese news a lot, but I don't think I have heard it much on Western TV:
You hear a lot about bad Chinese toys, but what corruption? China being so big and is full of corruption and miss-es.
This collapse is likely one of those cases where somewhere in the building are the use of bad materials of some sort....
