BRICS & New World Order Thread

Not very enthusiastic seeing Indonesia in BRICS atm.. especially that we're not really in good position economically. Widening gaps between rich and poor, de-industrialization which cause rising level of unemployement and poor government policies which causing law uncertainty and thus.. Foreign Direct Investment abandoning us.

Our government especially tried to gloss over the unemployement issue by actually adding non-formal jobs as part of their statistics of employement, despite common sense that you cant have proper nonformal sector (e.g art and FnB business, services even tourism), without healthy formal one (e.g manufacturing). What BRICS can solve there ?

Kinda reminds me of our geopolitical adventure in 1960's with NEFO (New Emerging Forces) Movement, where we went as far as creating our own equivalent to Olympics (GANEFO- Olahraga negara NEFO - NEFO Country sportsmanship event). Lighthouse projects with exorbitant cost yet little in return economically.

Economic indicators might suggest we have low inflation but.. that's kinda because our purchase power here is dwindling.. we even got actual deflation because of that.

But then i wonder what the future holds.
You may ask the question the other way around. What harm could there be to be in BRICS? BRICS isn't a economy or trade zone. It is never meant to directly assist economy growth in any country. It is something like G7, G20, WTO, WHO etc. for global governance with emphasize on economy and financial policies.

Russians claimed that Saudi Arabia joined BRICS and Westoids claimed that it didn't.

But the reality is that Saudi Arabia received the invite, but never confirmed joining nor declined formally.

They are obviously hedging their bets. However, they are participating in all meetings as they were real full members, so this is probably to retain some face to the US.

Btw, just now I saw that even Turkey formally applied to fully join BRICS a few months ago but was rejected by India due to their relations with Pakistan. It didn't cross my radar.
Haha, that is like "Cohabitation" in civil law.

India should be kicked out instead, and Turkey and Pakistan should join.

I looked around and find this time line.

September 27, 2024, Erdogan omitted Kashmir issue in his UNGA speech.

The shift in Turkey’s stance is so pronounced that former Pakistani diplomat Maleeha Lodhi noted Erdogan has consistently raised the issue of Kashmir in his UN speeches since 2019.

“Unlike the last 5 years, President Erdogan did not mention Kashmir in his speech to the UN General Assembly. He did that in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023,” Lodhi wrote on X.

Erdogan's application to BRICS some time in 2024 and India's blocking.

Then February 23, 2025, Erdogan voiced his support to Pakistan again.

Turkey’s President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during his recent visit to Islamabad, has again raised the Kashmir issue

We can see the true face of Erdogan, an opportunist whose words worth nothing. It wouldn't surprise anyone that nobody could believe him, even the Indians. What happened behind the scene might have been that Erdogan skipped Kashmir issue in 2024 UNGA speech thinking that is enough to buy the ticket from India, India asked Turkey to explictly state neutrality, Erdogan could not afford to be seen as a traitor in the muslim world, so India blocked Turkey. This is another example of "not to punch above your weight". If Erdogan kept Turkey's past diplomatic posture, nobody could blame him for saying nothing, Turkey may have a better chance.

India must be kicked out of BRICS to make it even remotely relevant organization. Right now it's completely pointless.
BRICS is like an alternative world order, even the threat title states this, "New World Order"

For a world order to be embraced by everyone and be pushed to the forefront, it should have enough space and flexibility to accommodate friends, neutrals and enemies.

China is playing another game altogether to your "expell whoever doesn't like us"

China is playing the game of hopeless misunderstanding of India where they think they can take India out of the western orbit by being nice to them, providing investment and also letting them into organizations like BRICS or SCO.

They fundamentally misunderstand the fascist nature of current Indian society and how much hatred Indians hold for China and How much jealousy there is for Chinese success.

Ultimately China will weaken and degrade these organizations to irrelevance because this misguided India policy. India is acting as a Trojan horse to make these orgs irrelevant by blocking any significant moves.

If China wants a new world order that is beneficial to China. It cannot be just about defeating the west. It has to be about degrading and ultimately breaking India into pieces.
