FreeAsia, that Gordon Thomas dude is just an alarmist. Nothing more. His info is based on the conjecture of neo-cons and other alarmist that like to twist the truth. That being said I personally would not be surprised if Israel did have nukes pointed at Iran. The article was written in Oct 2003.

The Iranians are bold in their actions. Very smart of them to confront smaller forces. There are US forces in the Gulf operating small patrol vessels. I pray all is peaceful. But if there was now some sort of confrontation I would not be surprised.

If I was an Israeli I'd be asking why my government dosn't have nukes pointed at Iran ! :)

The Iranians are being bold presumably because they believe the Americans are probing their defences and any sign of weakness on their part will be seen as an open invitation.

I think it's gradually getting to the stage where soon there WILL be action. It's possible *surprise* that it may involve joint operation by Israel, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and America since a nuclear armed Iran is being seen more and more by the people of the region as a threat...despite Ahmadinjad's blatent attempt to curry influence in the middle east by vebal attacks on jews :)

OMG!! FreeAsia2000 I agree with you again! Did you quit smokin' weed or something?:)

All kidding aside as we all have pointed out this situation is growing tenious. Did any of you catch Ahmadinjads "press confrence" a few days ago? That man has a set of big you know what. It appears that the US & EU will soon seek UN injunction against Iraq.

Israel has neither confirmed nor disproved it has nukes, although its rumored to be around 200.

israel is not going to show it's nukes. if it did, iran would not be upsetting the power balance.

i see a spark confrontation comming soon...war with iran can be deadly, coz iran is not the only nation/group that hates the u.s

I believe that the prospects of war with Iran are minimal (with US alone or coalition support). The reason is because Iran is not militarily inferior as Iraq or Taliban. Neutralizing it without inflicting huge damage to neighbouring global interests (such as Iraq and Israel) will be impossible.
In lay-man's terms it may be said that "'Iran will not sink without sinking its enemies'".

Besides a second disadvantage would be the risk of increased terrorist attacks on western targets (such as Madrid/London bombings) who form a coalition against Iran. As an example, France and Germany were spared since they were not part of a coalition in the war against Iraq.

Even if a coalition against Iran is formed, Iran shall have a very good offensive capabilities. The Shahab series of missiles can be launched with conventional warheads on Israel and Iraq, besides, on US/coalition naval bases in the region.

Thus, a "'hostage'" situation is present in the middle-east, similar to the one in the region of North-Korea (South Korea and Japan are intended targets).

Thus, even though equipped with a poor navy and air-force, Iran can offend its attackers in the event of a war by relying solely on its ballistic missiles.

Thus, it is unlikely that confrontation shall be risked against Iran.
