Brazil's military spending will reach 41,100 million in 2020
(defensa.com) According to the report "Future of the Brazilian Defence Industry", the defense market consultant ASD Reports, Brazil's military spending in 2020 will reach the 41,100 million, representing a growth rate 4.34% cumulative year between now and reaching a weight on GDP of 1.7%. The current budget of the Ministry of Defense of Brazil amounted to 31,500 million and represents 1.4% of the GDP of the country. This game, however, has fallen by 3.68% since 2011, when it reached 37,100 million.
The military budget of Brazil will be oriented according to the conclusions of ASD Reports, mainly replacing veteran weapons systems and equipment and the acquisition of equipment designed for the protection of resources, such as mining, the Amazon jungle or the coastal oil areas . According ASD, the Defense Ministry is targeting weapons programs towards nationalization to reduce dependence on foreign suppliers, promoting national industry and favoring technology transfer programs. This can be seen in programs such as fighter aircraft FX-2 or transport aircraft KC-390 aerial refueling or Brazilian Air Force in addition to the conventionally powered submarines and armored vehicles Guaraní.
