Naval J-20 confirmed!
call me when we've got a photo with tow bar, dual nose gear and a hook? LOL, lots of people are in love with the idea of a naval J-20. The history of aft mounted delta aircraft operating off carriers is sparse indeed, when you've got that much weight, that far aft, the mains end up farther aft..
to get the F-35C out to the boat and functional, ie approach speed at 145 knts, they increased the wing area by nearly half again, (the F-35C and the F-22 have nearly the same wing area)... when they increased the span they also added ailerons to the outboard wing to bring roll rate back up, and increased the size of the aft mounted stabilators to "balance it all out" and maintain pitch rate..
I'm not saying they can't,, (look at Rafale), I'm saying there are better solutions, but as Master Jeff would say, lets wait and see??
in fact Jeff, whose Dad Lee, was lead on the Chance Vought F-8F Crusader and the A-7 probably understands more of what I'm trying to explain.. Jeff???
anyway, maybe somebody could generate a few CGs of a Naval J-20, its an interesting idea, maybe somebody could also generate some CG's of a ground attack or an ECM version, sounds like the J-20 will be carrying the bulk of the Air Forces heavy fighter responsibilities?
