Again, for those of you who have not seen "the Assembly", GO WATCH IT, NOWWWWW!

It has heavy action (intense and non-stop battle sequences) in the first half and intense drama in the second half. Both perfectly done. I'm still wondering why they didn't even send the movie to compete for the Best foreign language featured film in the Oscar.

I cant agree with you, the films alright, but a soilders angst over his comrades deaths and seeking to get recognition for them is a theme done over and over. also, there's been some very good war movies over the decades and IMO this ones not in the same class. I don't think any of the other characters had a strong presence, which the audience would miss when K.I.A. To me giving the troops those very westerny sounding nick names made it seem odd, I think it took it out of that strictly Chinese setting.and the image of the two shells heading towards one,another.... something out of matrix. maybe.

Anyway how on earth did he survive the mine blast?

It's possible. We all hear stories about pilots jumping from bombers being hit and dropped 18000 ft and survived to tell the tale.

This is, to me, an art movie made like a big-budget blockbuster. It is a one man's odessy.
