I've noticed that the newly built helicopters such as the Z-10 and Z-20

are mostly painted black instead of army green or camo. What is the reason?

Are you sure? IMO they not black but painted in a very dark oliv green

How many fighters does a air brigade have?

That seems to vary … usually for long when just transformed from their former regiments, a number of 24-28 was normal. Now it seems, several brigades have been expanded in since to more than 30, but I don‘t know for sure.

AFAICT the standard for brigades is 30 "combat" aircraft + a certain number (6?) of twin-seat conversion types, i.e. JJ-7A, J-10S and J-11BS.

Why do some aircraft (i.e. J-20) require a landing chute, but not other aircraft? Is it an issue with poor braking system?

You can typically land without landing chutes on a lot of those aircraft which use them but you need a longer runway space to land.
Alternatives to landing chutes typically include either air brakes or thrust-reversal mechanisms on jet engines.

If you make an effort to make a google search, you will find practically almost every airforce combat jets used landing chutes, be it China USA, UK, France etc etc. Just type "F-16/15, Eurofighter and Rafale etc etc landing with braking chutes - images" on google search.

Larger aircraft normally thrust reverser to slow down their landing speed.
