Lmao, even Microsoft thinks closed-source is getting too expensive.

Guys I'm telling you the amount of utility you get from not having to count token or check quota is way larger than the marginal subjective capability difference between models. It's why I'm not too found of GLM so far even though it's very capable.

For now. Though I’m 100% sure they will be included soon enough. As long as China keeps growing and getting more powerful, the US will keep seeing it as a threat. It’s a structural challenge/threat , not dependent on who is president in either country. So expect things to get even more worse this coming years

Don't know what you mean. It's not really out of character.

The tech firms also only have themselves to blame. Anti-AI sentiment aside, they're bringing far too little value to local communities while straining local municipalities' institutional capacity.

Zhipu founder Tang Jie seems confident that Chinese labs will be able to reach Fable-level intelligence within the year.

Meanwhile, Anthropic founder Dario Amodei is keen on isolating China, so that democracies can dictate the terms of AI so his company doesn't have to compete:

Amodei said in his address to the group that areas of international cooperation should include structured access to frontier models, and trade of chips and critical components that excludes China, one person said. Amodei also said that countries should cooperate to address the risk of AI in cyber, bioterrorism and areas of intelligence, the person added.

I don't know, seems like he's worried.

It's all about "DEMOCRACY AND FREEDOM" not to mention he (Dario) regurgitated the Yogurt and Hong Kong freedom - issues that have nothing to do with the western world.

there is nothing really special about Fable. IDK why people are so obsessed about it and mythos. If they were really looking for a cyber security focused model, they can probably get there from GLM-5.2 in another iteration. If they want a fully rounded model, then they'd need more compute and putting together a larger model. Or maybe DeepSeek gets there first. But Zhipu founder makes me think they will work toward a larger model.

Elon just said what he said, because his team is behind and he is embarrassed to be falling behind open source models.

As for Dario, he is just of the typical Silicon Valley elites who doesn't know that China controls the AI supply chain. Have fun getting DRAMs now that Refined Tungsten exports are getting cut off.
